Glass Jewelry Workshop

“Producing something ethnic means creating an unprecedented version of a jewel as an ornament, replete with magical and symbolic significance.

Arcane memories, archetypes shared by all civilisations: adornment makes the body more and more powerful. It’s as if an ornament were an enchantment, a form of protection, a symbol.

It’s something we still do today, perhaps unconsciously. But I make a conscious effort to imagine every woman going out into the world with her message, to give voice to her charm, making her spirit shine and her elegance stand out: that’s how my jewels come to life.

The imagination knows no limits.”

- Fulvia Notari

Take a break!

Remember that Venetian small eateries and drinking establishments are called bacari (accent on the first syllable and last syllable pronounced “ee”). and the finger food-nibbles you eat are called cicheti (tcheekettee – accent on the second syllable). White wine is best in this area of Italy (small glass of wine is called “ombra”– which means “shadow”) and if you like cocktails – a Venetian drink called a Spritz is lovely on a hot summer day (you can find the recipe online at https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spritz - but be forewarned – Aperol is absolutely habit forming, but you can buy it in the States now.

No eatery or drinking establishment listed on this website is a paid advertiser. All references are based on personal opinion or recommendations from our favorite travel writers and we receive no compensation for encouraging visitors to our website to try out a place that we think they might enjoy.  That said – if you want the friendliest wait staff and the freshest seafood in the absolute most convenient location on the island with a lovely outside patio – visit my friend Lorenzo’s restaurant on Murano B Restaurant - ADDRESS: Campiello de la Pescheria 4, 30141 Murano, Italy – Telephone  +39 041 527 4957 (it is hard to find – it is around the corner from the beautiful Carlo Moretti store on Fondamenta Vetrai, 82  - not to be missed for its museum quality pieces).  You can consult B Retaurant’s Tripadvisor site. Be sure to make reservations days in advance ! You can also send them an email– but mention DG in the subject line: ristoarte[at]gmail.com. Enjoy -  and let us know if you agree with us!

Another friend, Luciano Orlandi, who I pretend is my own personal Master Chef has two places to consider in Venice. One is a simple Osteria called Ostaria Santa Giustina. (Address; 6553, Castello) in a sweet little piazza that is a bit difficult to find, but worth the lovely atmosphere in the quaint piazza. I have not eaten there – but enjoyed my glass of wine outside in the peaceful square. Phone number: +39 041 296 0212.  Buon appetito!

Luciano has another  beautiful little jewel of a restaurant (more up-scale)  called Boccadoro, in a secluded, intimate little piazza (my favorite in Venezia) where you can sit outside – weather permitting. Calle Larga Widmann, 5405/a is conveniently located near Fondamenta Nove (ask for directions from the boat stop) -  great for anyone staying in Venezia, but only 10 minute boat-ride from the island of Murano. You can consult the menu and make reservations online. Call to make reservations, it is a small place. Ask for Simone the extremely courteous manager – he speaks English. Tel. 041 521 1021. Here too, specify Divertimento Group –you might just get a little treat!
